What a Season
The 2025–26 season was one to remember for St John’s Chorlton U13s. Playing in Timperley & District JFL Division 5, the lads delivered an outstanding campaign that ended with a runners-up finish — narrowly behind a very strong Winton Wanderers side who went through the season unbeaten.
Across all competitions the team recorded 15 wins from 22 games, scoring an extraordinary 99 goals and finishing with 36 league points. It was a season of real character, electric attacking football, and some genuinely unforgettable moments.
Building Through the Season
The opening weeks were tough. A 4–10 defeat to Broadheath on the opening day — playing with just eight fit players at times — and a 1–10 loss at Flixton a few weeks later gave the squad plenty to reflect on. Credit to every player who dug in and kept going.
What followed was a remarkable turnaround. The team grew in confidence, organisation, and belief — and the goals started to flow. From December onwards the U13s were virtually unstoppable, winning game after game with some breathtaking attacking play.
The squad showed real resilience and character all season. A 9–0 win over AFC Urmston with just nine players available showed exactly what this group is made of — every single player ran themselves into the ground and you wouldn’t have known there was a man short.
Goals, Goals, Goals
The U13s were simply unstoppable in front of goal. J Twamley was the standout performer with a remarkable 34 goals — a stunning individual tally. L Ferreira chipped in with 21, M Ballester Mellody with 13, and R Sreenan with 11. Between just those four, the team scored 79 goals.
The highlight of the season in front of goal had to be the 18–1 demolition of Alderley United away from home in February — a statement performance against a team we would beat again 11–5 at home a month later. An 8–0 win at Lymm Rovers and back-to-back 9–1 wins over AFC Urmston and Hale United were further proof of this team’s quality on the day.
Cup Run and Final
The U13s also enjoyed a fine run in the Division Cup, beating Mobberley Bulls, Hale United, and then — in a famous result — Winton Wanderers 4–3 away from home in the cup. Beating the league champions away from home showed exactly what this team is capable of on their best days.
The cup final, also against Winton, ended in a 1–4 defeat — a disappointing day after such a strong run. But reaching the final was a brilliant achievement and the lads gave everything. Enda earned a well-deserved Man of the Match in the final game of the season.
Thank You
A massive thank you to every player who pulled on the shirt this season. To the parents and supporters who turned out week after week in all weathers — your support makes a real difference. And congratulations to every member of this squad on a brilliant season. Runners-up in Division 5 and a cup final — something to be genuinely proud of.
Bring on 2026–27!
