Season Review 2025–26 · Managers: Nick Turner & Steve Hurdsfield

Introduction

What a season it has been! From the opening 2–2 draw away to RS Titans through to the thrilling 4–4 draw away to the champions Wythenshawe – the only points they dropped all season – the lads have shown great desire, togetherness and a real battling quality, not to mention playing some amazing football throughout the season.

A change in formation to a 5-3-2 early on in the campaign gave us more stability in defence whilst still remaining potent in attack. We registered an amazing 117 goals across all competitions this season!

The Squad

Digby solid as ever in goal, with Dylan C stepping in when required – both keepers producing some amazing saves across the season. Lucas, Raph, Elliot and Ethan formed a fantastic defensive unit, putting in some great tackles and winning aerial duels. Micah, Sonny and Ewan adapted superbly to their new wing-back positions, supporting both attack and defence.

In midfield, Ivan, Jamie, Ilyas, Max and Luke showed great tenacity, skill and physicality throughout the whole season. Up front, Dylan C, Petr and Dylan H formed great partnerships with some memorable link-up play – not to mention the 67 goals they scored between them!

Season Highlights

Highlights of the season include Luke's last-ditch goal-saving tackle in the 3–2 win against Swinton, Dylan C's last-minute penalty save in the 5–4 win vs RS Titans, beating Winton 8–2 with 8 different scorers and then scoring 13 against the same opposition with Dylan C, Petr and Dylan H all getting hat-tricks. Then there was the whole team celebrating when Lucas scored against Reddish, and our magnificent away performance against champions Wythenshawe on the last day of the season.

Thank You

A massive thank you to George, Harry, Noah, Javar and Dalton who all played games in the Salford League and contributed to a fantastic season, and as always to all the parents and carers who have supported us from the sidelines.

Finally, a big thank you to the lads, who have been a fantastic group to work with. You have played some champagne football this season, shown real character when things got tough, and represented St John’s with real pride. Here’s to next season!
